Madison Rose Lane School Reviews

Rose Lane is truly an amazing school! We have two children who attend and live outside of the district. The quality and caliber of teachers and staff is remarkable. The school is very safe for children as they practice both lockdown and fire drills on a regular basis. This school is truly the gem of North-central Phoenix and I feel blessed to have our family as part of this incredible community!!!

School has a lot of good amenities, but it is not safe for younger children. At lunch, a handful of hourly workers watch the kids in the cafeteria. No one checks on them in the bathroom. A child was in there crying and no one even noticed...thank goodness I went in. They rush the kids through eating then don't give them time for the bathroom so kids have more accidents (Kindergarten.) They cut off bathroom use near the end of lunch time. The outdoor bathrooms off the playground are also chaotic with kids running around in them and no supervision. They really need to fix this issue to be a quality school. I also think having teachers eat with their class is best. The teachers know the kids - who needs attention, reminders for the bathroom, help with lunch, etc. Get out of the teacher's lounge & go w/your kids.

My kids have been above grade level in all subjects during their entire career at Rose Lane. We have a very high parent involvement rate which is amazing. I love our school.

Being a teacher at Rose Lane, I am slightly biased. However, I spent the summer furthering my education through distance learning classes with other teachers from around the state and can honestly say some of the best teachers are in our district. I was shocked by how 'ahead of the curve' the Madison teachers were in comparison to teachers from other districts. The high expectations for teachers in the Madison School District truly has created highly qualified teachers. I've never been more proud of being a member of this team.

We have had students in this school for over fifty years and would not change one thing. They are the most helpful people and really do care.

My daughter is in Kinder and she hated her last school, as soon as she met her teacher at Madison Rose, she was all smiles and she couldn't wait to start school! I was shocked and she's so much happier!

I have had children in this school, off and on for over 9 years. I have always been happy with the communication and committment level of the teachers. The administration has changed much over the last couple of years, to a group that is much more focused on student achievement and the importance of the community and parent involvment to attain that status. All very positive trends to an already wonderful school. If you are considering a variance to Rose Lane, I would definately recommend you pursue it--you won't be sorry.

My daughter went to kindergarten at this school. We were very happy with her teacher, who was very dedicated to her students and was a wonderful first teacher! Parents were involved in many of the student activites which is a good thing. Class size is average but in kindergarten there is often an aide or parent helper which is very necessary. Overall, my daughters first school experience was very good....we were pleasantly surprised.....one last thing is that the kindergarteners have their own playground, which I appreciated very much.

My daughter attended Rose Lane for her first through fourth grades. Fantastic teachers! (I should know; I helped out in the classroom at least once a week.)

so far this school seems to be working out very well for my 1st grader, she got help on her first day finding her home room since i was unable to take her and the teacher called me to let me know what was going on. the girls at the fromt office are also very helpful and nice. i think this will turn out to be a great learning experience for my child.

The Madison School District is the best in Phoenix, in my opinion. Rose Lane School has committed teachers and good student support. There is computer trainning starting in kindergarten and it is obvious that this district has money and puts it into thier schools for the students.

School is fairly big sized (about 800 plus students?) so not very personalized. My child's teacher (2nd grade) was a young teacher who was very nice, caring, and personable. Unfortunately, I believe the principal was not all that involved with students, probably due to being overly concerned with administrative duties and pending retirement. New principal Ms. Jones seems to be a lot more caring and more 'with it.' Other staff appear to be nice, esp. Janine (name?), at the reception desk, as well as Nurse Marney. Problems abound w/bullies, esp. on bus -buses were also struggling retaining drivers. Otherwise, it's a good school and I'd recommend it. Definitely need more programs for lower-income families, not everyone can afford $115 for chess -but all should have some access to extracurricular activities (sound like something PFC should worry about!)

My son has attended rose lane on a variance for the past 5 years (k thru 4th). We love this school. I am sad he has to leave as this school only goes up to grade 4. It is a down to earth school with a homey feel. I love the cutsey neighborhood and all the staff is great. There are several fun events throughout the year which we always look forward to. The school has a fantastic math program in which my son has accelerated through to advanced 5th grade and he loves it. They have rotating days with music, art, and p.e. They have an after school program which is pretty decent although a little pricey. Rose lane has late start time of 8:45. The end time is 3:30. Wednesdays they get out at 2, which is kindof annoying for working moms but it is for teacher collaboration.

The teachers at this school work hard to meet the needs of all students. They continually modify instruction, so that all children are learning at their own academic level. They challenge students beyond the state standards and have high expectations for every learner. Currently, I am satisfied with the amount of time provided for music, art, P.E. and library. I wish there was a technology teacher to provide lessons on using computers. Parents are moderately involved. You often see the same parents involved in everything.

Madison Rose Lane is one of the best organized public schools I have experienced. Their communication with parents is excellent and their parent involvement is also excellent. Both of my children attended this school. The music program is well run and the art program is also excellent. My children received an excellent education and had fine teachers at this school.

The front office staff (which is a great indicator of the overall quality of the administration) was superb. Great diversity as well.

Madison Rose Lane school is a very proactive school. They focus heavly on attendance and high acheivement and set goals for their students and work extremely hard to attain those goals. The staff is great and encourages parent involvement - which is critical for a child to succeed. The lines of communication are completely open between parents and staff. My children love their school and are learning so much so fast and it is very exciting to see. The Parent Faculty Club is very active and does everything it can to help support the children at Madison Rose Lane. Arizona has teh worst educatoin record of the country, but Madison School District is the best in the state.. why wouldn't you want the best for your children?

Teacher collaboration is awesome. The school communicates well with the parents through daily folder and homework lists. Lots of areas for parents to be involved in the daily education or just special events. My son really seams to bond with his teacher. The teachers move the children around the classroom as they see neccessary so they can work more closely with those students that need it. The curriculum is always being tweaked for better performance according to the childrens needs. I like seeing that teachers from different grade levels collaborate to get the advise and guidance of their peers and to see how they can improve the education for the students this year based on how they are progressing from the previous.

We have been fortunate enough to have our son accepted to Rose Lane on a variance for 2 years now. We choose this school not only for its high standard of education, but for its variety of student life. The PFC has been a welcome surprise in assisting the school through fundraising to enhance the education experience, especially now during so many budget cuts. If only more parents would volunteer...
